Avril Jessie King

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Avril King. Our much loved wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Avril lived life to the fullest with a sunny smile and a cheerful outlook.
She was one of four children, Jill, David and Roger of her mother, Jessie Lucken and father, Curly Lucken. She adored all her family, husband, Murray, son Wayne (wife Debbie), daughter, Patricia. She was very proud of her four grandchildren, Ryan (wife Crystal), Julie and Brandon as well as her great-grandchild Cirilla.
Avril was born in Ashtead Surrey of England and immigrated to Canada in 1949 at the age of 10, where she grew up in Davis Bay. Giving back to her community, Avril was an avid volunteer for the Sunshine Coast Healthcare Auxillary, Gibsons Branch. She was a life time member, having served in both Abbotsford and Gibsons. She was recognized for all her volunteer work by being named Golden Girl in 2011.
After a 28 year battle with cancer she is now at peace.
A special thank you to Dr. Weir, her radiologist and Dr. John Hourigan, Dr. Sara Wagde, Dr. Villa, Ambulatory Care nurses, Palliative Care Team and all the home care help.
Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the BC Cancer Clinic.
A service will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 1:00pm for those who wish to attend at Devlin Funeral Home, 579 Seaview Road, Gibsons, B.C. A private family gathering will he held at a later date.
