Cheryl Joy Horn

March 21, 1958 - March 19, 2017 Shortly after midnight, two days before her 59th birthday Cheryl opened her eyes from days-long sleep, rousing her children from shallow bedside dreams. Wrapped in their loving arms she took her final breaths, quietly closed her eyes, and left her worldly body behind for heavenly soil. She is awaited by her mother Mavis. Survived by her two sons, Eli and Jesse and their father Dan, her siblings Brenda, Sandy, Mark, Steven, Betty, and her father Ron. In her youth as a star athlete and cross country hitchhiker Cheryl wrote poetry. During her times scuba diving and living aboard a trimaran she wrote love letters. While raising two boys in an ancient telegraph office perched on the shore she compiled books of recipes. Later, when not tending to her garden or hosting legendary feasts in the home she and Dan built, she wrote children's books. Ultimately Cheryl wrote her own story, far shorter than many wished but epic in proportion and rich with wisdom. In her kind and graceful nature she gently brought characters into the world she had crafted, and then sent everyone reeling in laughter with her cheeky humour. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, March 26 from 4pm-5pm at Coopers Green Hall. We welcome anyone touched by Cheryl's life to join in laughter, tears and remembrance.
