David Reid passed away peacefully at the age of 87 in Surrey Memorial Hospital, Surrey BC. Dave is survived by his wife of 68 years, Francis (Schollen) formerly of Sechelt BC, presently of Surrey BC; his daughter Shirley (Ken Watson), of Kelowna BC; his son Johnny (Lynn Garreck), of Surrey BC; his daughter Andrea (Nick Boni) of Richmond BC; his brothers Alex, Bobby and Andy; six grandchildren and four great granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his father John; his mother Agnes; his brother John; sister Jean; and son in-law Nick. Dave was born in Vancouver. He attended school in Vancouver and Burnaby. He worked many jobs all over the Lower Mainland, finally settling in Sechelt where he worked for Coast Homes, South Coast Ford, D & F Shingles and many more. Dave was a social, active man who was deeply involved in community services for the majority of his life, including Wrenettes, Royal Canadian Legion Pipe Band, and the first Chief of the Halfmoon Bay Volunteer Fire Department and the Coasters Car Club. His family and friends will always remember him as a very outgoing and caring person. There will be no funeral service. A celebration of life will be held at the Chapel/ multipurpose room at the Harrison west building of Elim Village at 9045 160 St, Surrey BC, from 1 to 5 p.m. on May 13, 2017. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dave’s life. The family would like to thank staff of Sechelt and Surrey Memorial Hospitals for their help and care given to Dave. Donations can be made to the charity of one’s choice in David Reid’s name.
