May 11, 1933 - July 9, 2017 Born in Mara B.C., the youngest child of Annie (Massey) and Ned Robertson. Joined Bank of Montreal in Enderby in 1951; met his wife Elizabeth (Betty) Grant at a dance in Roberts Creek after being transferred to the Gibsons Branch. Married in July 1954 in Gibsons, his career took them to Vancouver, Nelson and Prince Rupert. His life was enriched by the arrival of daughters Pam (Vancouver) and Kathy (Prince Rupert). In 1968 he was transferred to Halifax where the family met new friends and toured the Maritimes and Newfoundland. Returning to Vancouver in 1969 Fred held progressively more senior roles until his retirement in 1989 after 38 years. Highlights include summers camping at Mara Lake, boating, vacationing in Maui, rich times with family and friends, fellowship and service at St. Stephen's United Church (Vancouver) and Gibsons United Church, helping sponsor five Vietnamese teenage boys and a Guatemalan family to Canada, card parties, travel to Europe, building a retirement home on the water in Gibsons and becoming a proud grandfather or G.P. Fred is so very missed by his wife Betty, daughters Pam (Pete McDonald), Kathy (Steve Bowler), granddaughters Michelle McDonald, Amy and Alisa Bowler, brothers-in-law David and Bob (Carol) Grant, numerous nieces and nephews and so many good friends. He died peacefully in Sechelt Hospital with family by his side just nine days after a terminal cancer diagnosis. A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, August 22 at 2pm in the Coastal Room at Gibsons Public Market, 473 Gower Point Road in Gibsons, BC. For those who wish, memorial donations could be made to Gibsons Public Market as Fred was a keen supporter of this community hub.
