KEENE, Gloria Veronica, born August 4, 1922 in Toronto, Ontario died peacefully at home on November 17, 2017 surrounded by her family. Gloria was predeceased by her loving husband Norman and daughter Rosemary. She is survived by daughters Fern, Patricia and Geri, sons-in-law Rudy Hoffman and Chuck Doucette, grandchildren Troy, Kipp, Lara, Curtis, Christopher and Alex, great grandchildren Alix, Carson, Aleah and Emmeline and her sister Joan Larkin in Missasaga, ON. Gloria had a spirit for adventure. When she was twenty she travelled by train across Canada from Toronto to Vancouver, B.C. where she lived at the Y.W.C.A. Her roommates Mary and Pam Keene introduced her to their brother Norman and the rest is history. She worked as a supervisor at a munitions factory until she was married then moved to the Keene home in White Rock. Gloria’s sense of adventure served her well over the years as she and her young family moved about every two years from city to city across Canada until Norman retired from the R.C.A.F. They were happy to return to the west coast in 1967. She enjoyed life in Richmond where she hosted their annual open house for relatives and friends New Years Day until 1980 when she and Norman moved to their new home in Garden Bay. She loved living on the Sunshine Coast. If Gloria were to be described in a word it would be “kind”. She was generous and kind to family, friends and her community at large. She loved her time with her Bible study friends, her Keno friends, her Legion friends and the Garden Bay Pub Friday Meat Draw friends supporting Team Irene long boarders. Gloria spent much of her life as a homemaker and mother always acquiring knowledge and wisdom. She never failed to trounce her grandchildren in Trivial Pursuit and other games of skill. She will be remembered for her wisdom, generosity, wit and kind heart. We miss her. A special thank you to all who helped Gloria in her last days, Dr. Bruce Robinson, Dr. Sara Wage and The Sechelt Home Care Nurses. The Service In Memory of Gloria will be held at Christ The Redemer Church 13625 Sunshine Coast Hwy, Madeira Park Saturday, Nov. 25,2017 at 2PM In leiu of flowers donations to the Sunshine Coast Salvation Army or the Royal Canadian Legion Madeira Park Branch would be appreciated
