Judy died peacefully in her sleep on the morning of January 5, 2018 at Christiansen Village, Gibsons, BC. She was born to John Zarowny and Barbara Sowtis on a farm in Saskatchewan on April 22, 1922. At 95 years of age she has now received her well deserved rest. For the last 10 years she struggled with dementia. In her early years she worked and lived in Winnipeg. She and her husband, John Lazaruk; lived in Sask. Until they moved to White Rock, BC, 1971 to be closer to their daughter, Rita. Left to mourn her passing are her daughters, Rita Erickson and Beverly Smith; grandchildren, Amorette Neufeld, Chelsey, Veronica and Shaun Wayte, great granddaughter, Sevia Neufeld, and half-sisters Mary, and Louise. She loved to entertain and held many dinner parties and get-togethers in her home. Recently she was described most appropriately as the "Queen of her Kitchen". She loved flower and vegetable gardening, and was an excellent seamstress. On one occasion she reconstructed a man's suit into a suit for herself. Judy and her husband John were life long members of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Sask., Vancouver, New Westminster and Surrey. She was predeceased by her husband John in 2011, her siblings, Pauline, Ann, Nellie, Margaret, Joe, and her half-sister Jennie, along with numerous nieces and nephews, and son-in laws, Calvin and Michael. We wish to extend a special thank you to the care aides at Christiansen Village for the loving attention they gave her. Mom you will live on in our hearts forever through the many beautiful memories we have of you.
