Marion slipped quietly away surrounded by her family on Saturday night, May 20th at age 91.  Predeceased by her parents and brother Bill, she is survived by her husband Robert, brother Peter and her children Karen (Wilf), Ginny (Wayne) and Andy (Melanie) and by her 8 grandchildren (Paul, James, Caitlin, Emilie, Reid, Taylor, Casey, Mackenzie) and 5 great grandchildren (Brayden, Isabelle, Mya, Kyle, Sunny). Born in Thrums, BC to Mabel and Bill Konkin, she and her family moved to Langley during her childhood.  She met her husband at a dance in Langley and they started their family in New Westminster. Moving to the Sunshine Coast in 1957 with Robert, Marion made her mark on the community with her volunteer work for St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary, the Gibsons Legion, the Sea Cavalcade and many other community organizations. And, at one time wrote a social column for the local newspaper.  Marion travelled the world, loved a good bridge game, could whomp up a dinner for a crowd and shared her beautiful, contagious smile with everyone she met.  She was a woman of style and grace, had a zest for life and loved to laugh. She was honoured as one of the first Gibsons Golden Girls.  We want to give special thanks to Dr. Nancy Yao and the staff at Christenson Village, Gibsons for the compassionate care she received during her time with them. Please join us in celebrating her life at the Sunshine Coast Golf and Country Club in Roberts Creek on Saturday, June 3rd at 2:00pm.
