Arone Chilton

Still Dancing

Arone left his body on July 12th after a short and fierce battle with ALS.
Throughout his life, he pursued personal and metaphysical growth with a passion. Arone first became interested in Transcendental Meditation in the late 60's and became one of the first people to teach it on the Sunshine Coast.
In the 80's he taught karate in dojos all over the Lower Coast. Later, he and his wife Cathrine, opened the first "New Age" store in the area, complete with a well-stocked lending library and a wide variety of tools for self-exploration.
As the world entered a new century, Arone decided to spend more time with his family, dancing and travelling (in that order of priority). He "walked his talk" every day as he made customers at IGA feel he was especially happy to help them and provided hugs as needed.
His physical presence will be deeply missed by his wife and dancing partner Cathrine Fuller, children, step-children and grandchildren, family and friends.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the wonderful caregivers at Coastal Health, Dr. Karen Forgie and the ALS Society of BC who each and all managed minor miracles on a daily basis that allowed Arone to stay at home until close to the end. Also to the kind and patient nursing staff at Sechelt Hospital who kept him comfortable during his final days.

The ALS Society provided a tremendous amount of practical support and has never once asked us for a dime or a donation. So we would like to urge people to make a donation to them in Arone's name.

We will have a Celebration of Arone's Life, potluck and dancing on Saturday, August 18th at our home - 1182 Flume Rd. beginning at 4 pm.
