Eleanor Ann Stahldorf

It is with a heavy heart we announce the sudden passing on June 6th of our beloved wife, sister, mother, and grandmother - Eleanor Ann Stahldorf (nee Porter). Ann was born in Seaview on the Isle of Wight on January 13, 1935. After the war she and her parents, Edith & Cecil Porter, followed her older sister, Monica Heath, immigrating to Canada where they settled in Vancouver. In 1953 she graduated from Kitsilano High School. Four years later she married her husband of 61 years, Heinz. They raised three children, Karin (Barnes), Cindy (Young) and Peter in Richmond. While the children were young Ann was a loving full-time mum to the children and family pets. She loved to knit, sew and bake and passed these interests onto her girls. In addition, she also found time to volunteer for many organizations, including the PTA & Red Cross. In retirement, Ann had a full and active social life in Gibsons, volunteering for the St. Mary's Hospital Auxilliary, participating in the Gibson's Yacht Club, book clubs and walking groups where she made many friends who will miss her deeply. Ann was an extremely loving and devoted grandmother to Jonathan (Adele Kafer), Anna (Michael Deepwell), Sharon, Darryl, Mark, and Emma. Ann also had extremely meaningful relationships with the spouses of her children, Michael, David, and Shannon. Ann's joy for life and her optimistic positive attitude are attributes we will all continue to remember and try to emulate.

A memorial and celebration of her life took place on Thursday, June 14 at 1:15pm at Eric Cardinal Hall, 930 Chamberlin Road, Gibsons, B.C.
