Helen Pearl (Sullivan) Wigard

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing away of Helen Pearl Wigard (nee Sullivan). Helen was born in Lethbridge, Alberta on May 9, 1947. Her family soon moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta where she grew up.  Predeceased by father Kenneth, mother Johnina. Survived by husband Gunnar Roy, brother Danny, sisters Sharon, Pat and Irene, daughter Debbie (Randy), son Kenneth (Jodie) and grandchildren Katie, Matthew, Mitchell, Brantley and Taylor.  Helen moved to Sechelt in 1970 where she met Roy and settled into the community. She worked at Wigard Shoe Store for a few years before going to serve the community as Postmistress of the Sechelt Post office for over 20 years.  She also volunteered with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 140 Ladies Auxiliary.  Helen's greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren and watching them grow into young adults.  Her happiest moments were spent being surrounded by her family and friends down at the Marina in Porpoise Bay.   The family would like the thank the home care nurses and care aides for all their compassion and hard work over the past months, and the nurses at Sechelt Hospital for their compassion and professionalism. The family would also like to give a special thank you to Dr. Jack Bryson who has become like a family member over years. A celebration of life will be held at Seaside Centre on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 1:00pm.
