Irene Margaret (Balmer) Wray

December 25, 1925 - September 14, 2017 Irene peacefully breathed her last breath of this life, at home with family, on Thursday last. She was pleased to leave after a long, happy, healthy life of 92 years and a marriage of 66 years. Born in Dunoon, Scotland to Daniel and Jeannie Balmer; met Graham Wray in September, 1940 and married him in the High Kirk of Dunoon on September 6, 1951. Graham and Irene sailed to Canada in May, 1955 and after brief periods in Montreal and Cornwall, Ontario, settled in Powell River and established their roots on the coast of British Columbia with 10 years in Powell River, 25 in West Vancouver and 27 years in Gibsons. They were blessed with three children, Jane in 1958, Sheila in 1960 and Alex in 1964, had happy lives together and now enjoy their strong families in West Vancouver, Bowen Island, Duncan and Chemainus. Irene had a short illness, received the Last Rites of the Anglican Church with family in Sechelt Hospital on September 6, her wedding anniversary. She came home and quietly died four days later, so very well cared for by the church, the hospital, the palliative care staff, and Heather O'Donnell, for all of which we are so very grateful.
