JACK ANAKA Obituary

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Jack Anaka on January 31, 2018 in Sechelt, B.C. Jack passed peacefully in the arms of his loving wife and soulmate Ede. He will be lovingly remembered by Ede (together 62 years), his son Paul, daughter Jacqueline, son in law Thomas, and his grandsons Nicholas and Benjamin. Jack was born in Canora Saskatchewan, but grew up in East Vancouver and was always proud to say he was an “East Ender”. It was here he developed his love of Chinatown and Chinese food. Jack had many interests. The newest in electronics . He had his own weather station and was known in the neighborhood as the local weather man. His many travels led him to Barbados, Hawaii, Mexico ,India , China , Hong Kong, Thailand, Australia and his favorite the Arctic Circle. He cherished his Father- Son fishing trips to Vancouver Island and of course countless trips to Phoenix to see Jackie ,Tom and the grandkids. Jack, Nick and Ben had a special bond. Grandpa shared his love of Jazz which inspired them both to join the school band .He taught them how to fish and crab off the local pier and built bonfires in the backyard. In turn they taught Grandpa all about the latest electronics. “ Alexa ” turn off the lights. An original Vancouver Canuck Season Ticket Holder, Jack loved hockey. He spent many years working with the Coquitlam Minor Hockey Association. He took great pride in watching his son and eventually his grandsons play hockey. Jack lived a full life. He owned and operated his own business at Middlegate Meats for 30 years and eventually retired to the Sunshine Coast. He will be remembered by his many friends and family for his love of life , laughter ,his sense of humor, smooth jazz and a good party. He was kind , generous, and always willing to lend a hand. At Jack’s request there will be no service . In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the BC Cancer society or a charity of your choice
