Jolene Porter Obituary

The sky has darkened a little today without the glittering smile of Jolene Porter, a wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend. On March 23, 2018, our anchor of life was taken away to set sail forever.
Jolene entered this world on January 1, 1962 to Milt and Bernice Jorgenson. She was born in Nelson BC and was the New Year baby. In her teens after grad school, Jolene went to work with her dad and helped to look after her sister Colleen and the family business. After the teenage years of two sisters growing up together, they had created a special bond and love for each other and began families of their own.
For Jolene and Jim Porter who had just met December 19th 1983, it was love at first sight. They were married September 2nd 1984 and started their life together in Coquitlam. After seven years of hard work, exploring life with friends and family and building a stable foundation, their family grew by two – daughter Jorianna and son Jarrett. Together this family created endless memories for each other and were always happiest when they were together.
Jolene's career as a family business manager was always to be a mother first and to help friends and family solve problems. She was contagious to be around.
After 20 years of life in the city the Porter family pulled anchor and moved to the Sunshine Coast, where they found a lifestyle unlike any other. It was very difficult for Jolene to leave the family business that she worked so hard to build with her Dad.
Jolene was independent, creative, stubborn, sensual, sentimental and inventive. She was willing to take risks, succeed at pioneering projects, reaching her goals and having little patience for mediocrity.
Jolene's philosophy was to love, live and laugh. She said many times that the beast (cancer) that took her life never once diminished her spirit. Her love and genuine happiness will live on in everyone she cared about.
We in turn will always love and miss her and see her smiling somewhere over the rainbow, where she is now in peace.
Jolene is survived by her husband Jim, daughter Jorianna, son Jarrett, father Milt Jorgenson, mother Bernice Hannon, sister Colleen Kloeble and many more.

There will be a celebration of life on May 19. Please contact the family for details.

A special thank you goes out from the family to all the nurses at he Pender Harbour Home Care Centre. They made Jolene's and our family's last few days together easier, and for that we thank them.
