Mary Caple Obituary

Mary Wallace (Smart) Caple,

 June 1, 1934 - March 19, 2018

Mom passed away peacefully with her family at her side.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Joanne (Bob), Karen (Bob), and Lorraine (Michel); sisters, Jane and Ann (Pete); 7 grandchildren and 4 nephews.

She grew up mainly in West Vancouver after her Dad retired from the military.  Mary was creative, adventuresome and loved being in the outdoors.  While in university Mary spent many weekends skiing at Hollyburn Mountain before there were ski lifts.  She loved exploring, camping and combined these pastimes into great trips with her daughters traveling around BC and in 1973 took them on a road trip in her red VW van all the way to Mexico City and back.

Mary loved her work as a Special Education Teacher.  Mary had a great passion for theater; she became involved with amateur theater in her 20’s and spent 30 plus years involved in many theater groups. She was a talented creator in all parts of theatre; especially with costumes, sets, props; both design and construction.  She was a sought after, well-respected stage manager.  Her grandchildren were a great source of joy and she was a master of creating Halloween costumes for them.

Special Thanks to all the wonderful Nurses, Home Care Workers, Dr. Baxter and Dr. Scott who helped Mom stay well and enjoy her last years at in her much loved home.
