Maureen Patricia (MacKenzie) Nemrava

October 8, 1954 - August 4, 2017 It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our precious Maureen on Friday, August 4, 2017, after a hard fought battle with cancer. Maureen was born in Flin Flon, MB, the fourth of seven children born to her parents Ruth Delores MacKenzie and Donald Bruce MacKenzie. The family moved to Terrace, BC, then Kitimat, BC, Edmonton, AB, Kelowna, BC and Maureen arrived in Vancouver in 1972 after graduating from Kelowna Senior Secondary. She spent most of her career working in the advertising industry in Vancouver, and her final move in 2002 brought she and her husband Michael to Sechelt, BC where they built their dream home. With her fondness for lists, Maureen was our Director of Life and always did the planning for everyone. She was a lifelong avid reader and traveler, and also enjoyed knitting, and beading. Maureen is survived by her loving husband, Michael, siblings Ray, Glenys, Gary, David, Kenneth, Sandra and Colin MacKenzie, Carol Sayre, Michael’s parents Louise and Don Nemrava, sister-in-law Gloria Davidson (Vance) brother-in-law Jeffrey Nemrava (Kimberley), brother-in-law Larry Davidson, many nieces and nephews and her fur babies Morgan, Nash and Tori. We would like to express our sincere thanks to doctors and staff of Sechelt Hospital for the kind care she always received. Thanks also to her co-workers at Kidzsmart, Gibsons, BC for their warm and generous support throughout this difficult time, and thank you for the support of her family and many friends. A Celebration of Maureen’s Life will be held on Saturday, August 26 from 2-5pm, at Blue Ocean Golf Course, 6177 Ripple Way, Sechelt, BC. Arrangements entrusted to Devlin Funeral Home, Gibsons, BC. In lieu of flowers, Maureen’s wish was that donations be made to Ovarian Cancer Canada, #831, 470 Granville St., Vancouver, BC V6C 1V5.
