Peacefully on Friday, August 30, 2019 in her 72nd year, Ruth ended her battle with cancer when she passed away at home surrounded by her loving family.
Mom was predeceased by her parents Barbara and Jack Ellis.
Ruth is greatly missed by her husband Bruce, her children Lori Constable (Joseph), Pat (Glenn) Taylor, Doug (Norma); Grandchildren Hudson, Cole & Sophia: and siblings John, Susan (Brian) Brown, Hugh (Danielle) and many nieces and nephews.
Mom was athletic and energetic in her youth. She worked at Gambles and Greyhound bus lines before she and Bruce married in 1966 and started their family in Winnipeg. By the age of 24 she had a busy life caring for her 3 children. Ruth and Bruce followed family and friends to BC where Dad started his apprenticeship as a millwright in Port Alice. They had an active social life and were lifelong friends with The Lacey’s, Broads, and many friends in the strata complex and curling club. Mom was a hard worker. She worked part time at the legion, school board, and managed the hockey team. When they moved to Gibsons Mom & Dad both held jobs at the Port Mellon Mill and bought their forever home in Langdale. Mom treasured her family, was generous to neighbours and was always keen to make a friend. She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at Devlin Funeral Home 579 Seaview Road, Gibsons at 1:30pm Saturday, September 17, 2019
