Allan Lewis Cobbin peacefully passed away on the morning of December 3, 2024 at the age of 95. Born in Treherne Manitoba on August 19, 1929, the first of identical twin boys. Along with his parents, John (Jack) Lewis Cobbin, Margaret Johnson (Mcdonald) Cobbin, older brother Jack Mcdonald Cobbin, and twin Alexander Duncan Cobbin he moved to Vancouver at three years of age. Allan and his twin brother Alex were identical and inseparable for life.

Grades 1 to 5 were at Langara Elementary, 6 to 9 at Duncan Grammar School, 10 to 12 at Lord Byng graduating in 1947. Allan graduated from UBC with his Masters Degree in Social Work in 1954. Allan worked at Gordonhood Neighbourhood House and then began his career as a Probation Officer with eight years in juvenile and 12 years in family work. He became a Local Director and then District Director of Corrections for the North Shore and Sunshine Coast retiring to Roberts Creek in 1984.

Allan was a proud Freemason receiving his 50 year pin in 2016 and was Master and Past Master of Progress Lodge 87 and a member of North Lodge 93. One of Allan‘s greatest joys (besides family, fishing and golf) was being a Master Beekeeper. Over 57 years Allan kept bees in Vancouver and on the Sunshine Coast. He was the original founding member of the Sunshine Coast Beekeeping Club. He revelled in giving lectures about bees, mentoring new beekeepers, and sharing and selling honey. Allan was a 50 year member of the Evergreen Over 40 Rugby Club taking three tours of Japan.

Allan encouraged generations of family and friends to come and share his love of the property in Roberts Creek. His recent days included playing poker with local friends, walking, and sitting with cat Joey on his lap. Allan was predeceased by his parents, brothers Jack and Alex and is survived by his daughter Susan (Stephen), son Steven (Ginny), grandchildren Paige (Justin), Cameron (Bree), William and Peter and great granddaughters Nora, Wren and nieces, nephews, and cousins.  An inurnment on the Sunshine Coast is planned for the Spring when the bees are flying.
