Allan Levinsohn Obituary

With deep sadness I announce Allan Levinsohn, the love of my life, died January 16, 2022. He was in our home as per his wishes, and just three weeks shy of his 69th birthday. He will also be missed by his sister Lorraine Parry (Mike), his sister-in-law Carol Brown, his brother Axel Massinen (Inge) and their family, his many friends and colleagues, and, of course, our poodle Charlie.

We were married in 1975 while still at university. He was 22, I was 23, both far too young and impulsive but it was the smartest thing we ever did. When you know, you know. We lived in Edmonton, in a VW van, in Canmore, then in Gibsons.

Allan never held a grudge and was always able to see the humour in pretty much everything but not in a cruel way. He loved being in the outdoors, hiking, skiing, biking, gardening, breathing.

Allan loved learning and sharing what he learned with others. He became interested in information systems and started his consulting firm in 1985. This led him to associations with the Banff Centre for Management and the Alberta Research Council and learning institutions in Canada, Europe, the United States and China.

After moving to the Sunshine Coast in 2006 Allan quickly made friends and joined the Gibsons Garden Club and then the Gibsons Seniors’ Society making significant contributions to both.

Tearful hugs of gratitude to Drs Ardashes Avanessian, Paul Murphy, Sarah Wadge, the many compassionate members of the Palliative Care Unit and the Home Care Nurses who were involved in Allan’s care during the final months of his life.

Born to Danish parents, Sven and Else, Allan was cremated and will be given to the Salish Sea as a proper Sun Coaster Viking deserves. Remember him with love, he was one of the good ones.

Allan, I will always love you.

Sandy Brown.
