Angela Terrillon Obituary

Angie passed away peacefully in Gibsons on January 30, 2026 at the age of 91. She was born in North  Vancouver on July 19, 1934 to Noel and Doris Fraser (nee Busbridge). Angie is survived by her three daughters Marie Forsyth, Anne Pettit (Harry) and Jennine Dool (Hugh) and grandchildren Ben,  Brett, Joel, Elise, Harrison, Camille, Ryan, Shayne and Lacey as well as 13 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her nephew Jake, who was especially close to her in recent years.

Angie met and married the handsome Harry in North Vancouver in 1952 - their three daughters joined them over the next three years. Life wasn’t easy but it was happy. There were Sunday afternoon visits to Stanley Park Zoo, camping trips to the Okanagan with a gigantic canvas tent, big Terrillon family picnics at John Lawson Park. There were always three beautiful matching handsewn dresses at Christmas.

Angie and Harry owned and operated Bee Cee Boat Movers in the 70s and early 80s, followed by a few years at Cypress Bowl ski area – Angie managing the food service and Harry running the snow plow, and they had fun!

The move to Gibsons in 1990 brought inspiration to become a property flipper – purchasing and renovating rundown properties time and time again – Angie was in her element! She finally realized her dream of “living on the water” when they built the little house in Roberts Creek in 1992. She had a remarkable gift for gardening – every property along the way reflected her green thumb – colourful, rambling and beautiful.

Faced with some health issues, she left the real estate business and took on the Gibsons Thrift Shoppe, which she managed very successfully until 2010, providing thousands of dollars over the years to the Gibsons community.

She continued to dedicate her time and energy to charitable causes and she worked tirelessly for the Gibsons Sea Cavalcade, St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary and the Lions Club and Kiwanis Club Housing Society. She was recently honoured with the Lions Club International Melwin Jones Fellow Award for dedicated humanitarian services.

In recent years her heart was with the Stephen Lewis Foundation – Grandmothers and Grand Others – and many hours were spent hosting garage sales, sewing tote bags, knitting dishcloths and baking pies – in support of grandmothers in Africa raising their orphaned grandchildren. The women volunteering alongside her became some of her closest friends.

Angie was an enthusiastic traveller and found joy in exploring the beauty, culture, and people of many far away places – Cuba, Egypt, England, Germany, Mexico, Panama, Hawaii, Egypt again – to name a few. Swimming with dolphins and riding high on a camel were definitely highlights. Many dear friends were made during those travels.

Angie lived her life on her own terms – she was unfiltered and unapologetically herself. She will be remembered for her forthright personality and keen spirit, and for her unwavering commitment to fundraising for many worthwhile causes. Hers was a life lived long and strong!

Heartfelt thanks to the Vancouver Coastal home support team and to the wonderful staff at Sechelt Hospital and Christenson Village. An especially big thank you goes out to Dr. Ron Mundy for his never-ending kindness and caring. Thank you also to the many friends and neighbours and their pups who popped by regularly to say hello.

Please honour Angie’s memory in your own special way - perhaps knitting a dishcloth for charity, taking a walk along the beach in the sunshine or (her favourite) having a lively discussion with friends on a hot topic. She loved life and she loved her family and friends. If you wish, donations may be made to the Stephen Lewis Foundation.
