A Classic True Love Story

Eternally together again

In Loving Memory of Mom and Dad

On Sunday, November 9th, 2025, our beloved “Papa” Terrence Patrick Duffy passed away suddenly at home in Gibsons, born in Belfast, Ireland, on March 8th, 1947. Terry was 78 years old.

Just days later, on November 14th, 2025, our loving Mom, Ann Marie Duffy, passed away at Christenson Village after hearing her husband of 56 years had passed away. Born Ann Marie O’Hare in Dublin on April 5th, 1945. Ann was 80 years old.

Both Terry and Ann immigrated to Canada in the late sixties, and that’s when Terry set out to court the woman of his dreams. After the courtship, she agreed to marry Terry on January 18, 1969.

They settled in Gibsons, where Terry got a job at Howe Sound Pulp and Paper in 1975, where he got a Pipe Fitters apprenticeship. He worked as a pipefitter until his early retirement after his stroke, but his true passion was being a workers’ advocate. Terry was a true Trade Unionist and a brilliant negotiator with his amazing consensus-building style.

An avid golfer who was a member of Sechelt and Roberts Creek courses could make those old wooden Persimmons golf clubs sing as he effortlessly parred most holes, impressing everyone who had the pleasure of golfing with him.

Ann was a devoted Mom, stayed home to raise Tony and Tracy until they were in school. Ann worked at the BC forestry office for many years, then at the Vancouver Health Authority for many years before retiring.

Ann’s energy was endless as she juggled her work and supported Terry’s busy life while raising her two busy kids, Tracy and Tony.

Together, Ann and Terry nurtured a loving and caring family and many friends. They are survived by:

Tony (Trina), Kiah and Faye

Tracy (Tamara) and Justyce

Terry’s sister (Renee) and brother (George)

Ann’s brother Tony (Rosaleen) and sister Teresa

And many nieces and nephews and close friends

A celebration of their amazing lives will be held at the Gibsons Legion at 3 PM on November 22nd, 2025. Please bring a story to tell.
