With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Aurora Edwardsen (nee Scrofano) who left us on November 27th, after a two-year battle with cancer.
Aurora was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario and relocated to the Sunshine Coast in her early twenties, where she worked at the CIBC Gibsons branch. She then transitioned to a supervisor role at London Drugs where she stayed for over 20 years. Aurora was an absolute lover of animals and was known to take in critters that needed extra care and attention. Some would famously remember her for Abby, her somewhat house-trained pot bellied pig.
She was a force to be reckoned with, stood up for what she believed in and was loved by many. Aurora was happiest when in her garden, at a thrift store looking for treasures or cuddled up with her dogs in a warm pair of pyjamas.
Aurora is survived by her husband, Gord Edwardsen, who was also her caretaker and rock for these last years. They met 27 years ago when they quickly fell in love and were married in Whistler. They enjoyed a quiet life in Roberts Creek until her passing.
Aurora also leaves behind her brother Dean Scrofano, sister Gloria Scrofano (Lee) and nieces Erin Lee, Vanessa lee and Melanie Scrofano (Pentecost. A special mention goes to her closest friends Mariann and Kevin Hinz and George Gibb who have been a tremendous support for the whole family.
As well, we would like to sincerely thank the generous staff at Silverstone Care Center and home support staff at Vancouver Coast Heaolth whose care and compassion is unvaluable and does not go unnoticed. She is pre-deceased by her mother and father, Giovanna and Alessandro Scrofano.
A CELEBRATION OF LIFE WILL BE HELD WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS IN THE SPRING OF 2026.
If wanted, donations can me made in Aurora's name to the Sunshine Coast SPCA.
