David Alan Lighfoot

It is with love and sadness that we announce the passing of David Alan Lightfoot, who died peacefully on August 27, 2025, in Gibsons BC, Canada.

David was born on December 7th, 1941, in Liverpool, UK. He attended Loughborough University, where he pursued a degree in Civil Engineering and met his first wife, with whom he shared the joy of raising four children: Richard, Michael, Louise, and Sally. His career took him across the UK, and later to Saudi Arabia, where he built a new chapter of life and met his second wife, Barbara.

In his later years, David retired to Canada, always with a beloved dog or two at his side. He enjoyed the quiet beauty of nature, camping, astronomy, photography, Bridge with friends and the companionship of his much-loved dog, Ben. His curiosity, pride, and studious interest in the world around him left an impression on all who knew him.

David will be remembered not only for his professional dedication and travels but also for his love which he held quietly while maintaining a gruff exterior.

He leaves behind his children, and many cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

A private memorial will be held at a later date in Canada. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to the SPCA or wildlife or nature conservation charity in David’s memory.

He will be missed.
