David Thomson died on July 24, 2021 in Sechelt, BC. He was the cherished brother of Lyn and Jeannie, father of Errol (Karen) and Rowan (Kevin), grandfather of Moira and Torin. He leaves behind family and friends around the globe.
David is remembered for his big heart, loud and contagious laugh, enthusiastic hug, and ready smile. He had a great zest for life. After teaching in Bolivia – where he gained lifelong friends and a love of the language, culture, and music – David taught high school math and science for 30 years in Ottawa. A keen runner, he completed many marathons and enjoyed spending time outdoors, often cycling or running to work. He loved music, and performed in several choirs in Ottawa and on the Sunshine Coast.
After retiring, David moved to Sechelt to care for his parents. He loved being a part of the close-knit community, volunteering at the food bank, immersing himself in numerous activities and groups, and participating in church life at St. John’s United Church. He also enjoyed visiting family and friends in Ottawa. A special thanks to the team at Shorncliffe Care Home for their care and support in recent years.
David’s kind and gentle nature will be very much missed. Celebrations of his life will be scheduled at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CUSO International.
