DIANNE MARGUERITE FLYNN
Sept 6 1946 - Feb 21 2021
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dianne Flynn who died peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, after a very courageous battle with cancer. Dianne lived life on her own terms and died the same way with MAID. Her family is extremly grateful that this option was available for her.
Dianne is survived by her two daughters Aurea Lee and Jessawyn Joan, her life partner Ronald Meyer, her sister Susan and husband Denis Dreger. She was predeceased by her parents Lance and Joan Brider, her brother Bruce Brider and her brother David Brider. Dianne cast a wide net and will be remembered and loved by so many.
Born in Hamilton, Ont, Dianne spent her childhood and teen years in Burlington, Ont and spent many happy summers at the family cottage in Burkes Falls, Ont. Venturing west in 1975, she settled in Vancouver but soon discovered the Sunshine Coast. She moved to Halfmoon Bay in 1982 and it was there she met her soulmate Ron in 1985.
When her children were young, Dianne became involved with the Coast Dance Society as well as 10 plus years as a Girl Guide and Pathfinder leader. She gave her time willingly and volunteered her services to several worthy causes, including the Sechelt Food Bank. She was the co-owner of the Sew Easy shop in Sechelt from 1999 until 2014. An accomplished seamstress, avid knitter and gardener, she liked nothing more than to sit in her favorite sunny spot, in her garden, knitting, reading or simply enjoying her morning coffee.
Dianne wished to thank Dr. Sarah Wadge, Dr. Karen Forgie, Dr. Bruce Robinson, Dr. Doris Fogerty, the St. Marys Hospital ACU nurses and the Sunshine Coast Paliative Care team. In lieu of flowers, Dianne wished that a donation be made to the St. Marys Hospital Foundation in her name.
A celebration of her life will be organized whenever we can safely gather again. What a party that will be.
