Donald Graham Obituary

What-ta-tayla. Donald Lyle Graham passed away Friday, January 8, 2021 after a long illness.

Don was born in Chilliwack, BC to Buzz Graham of Laidlaw and Ellen Prest from Snuneymcxw Band on Vancouver Island. Don grew up in Hope, BC and was a quiet but impressive athlete on both the soccer field and the diving board. He spent many happy hours running free with his cousins, always somewhere between Mum's, Aunty's and Gram's houses. He learned to swim in the Fraser River and in Kawkawa Lake in Hope and spent summers picking raspberries or visiting family in Vancouver. As a teenager in the sixties he developed a real love for rock and roll music buying every album and attending every concert he could afford.

In 1971 he married his high school sweetheart and they soon had a brood of children to raise. They moved to Gibsons for a "summer job" setting chokers at McNab Creek with his uncles and cousins. After a few years running up and down mountains he moved over to log sorting at L&K Lumber/Terminal Forest Products. Don was a very steady worker who was well known for never missing a shift and taking whatever overtime was offered. He retired in 2015.

Don is survived by his wife of 49 years, Michelle, sons Matthew (Andrea), Farley (Amber), Taze (Elena, Byron (Mila) and daughter Kara (Rhys); also grandchildren Angus, Stella, Hudson, Fraser, Islay, Vida, Esmé and Ronin and four siblings as well as numerous aunties, uncles and cousins.

The family would like to express gratitude to all of the family, friends and neighbours who brought food, flowers, cards and offers of help.

There will be a Zoom memorial January 23, 2021 at 2:00pm.
