Douglas Carmichael Obituary

It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my Uncle Doug. At the age of 71, Doug passed away at home suddenly with his wife Carmen and his favorite dog “Roger” by his side. Uncle Doug was a salt of the earth kind of guy...he spent most of his life running Gibsons Motors. Regardless of how messy the shop was, he always knew where everything was. Doug and Carmen loved the time spent on the farm on Chaster Rd. even though Uncle Doug said he never signed up to be a farmer. He sure did love the baby lambs.

After retirement Carmen and Doug started volunteering at The Salvation Army food bank in Gibsons. It was their happy place. Everyone called him Uncle Doug. He always had a smile or a hug for any client that was in need. He is missed greatly by his family at the Salvation Army. Uncle Doug is survived by the love of his life Carmen Peters, his adopted nieces Tania Allen and Susanne Gallagher and his two sisters Jan and Pat and brother Allen.  Doug is  predeceased by his two brothers Ian and Norm along with his parents and his best friends Robin Allen and Roger Desrosiers. Uncle Doug spent countless hours with Roger and Robin playing Dungeons and Dragons....it seems in the end the dungeon master is home. I’m sure the three of them are playing and having many laughs together.

I know Uncle Doug would be upset that I "wasted" my money on writing this obituary however I felt I needed to honour the amazing man he was. Thank you Uncle Doug for being in our lives, we all were all so blessed and will never forget you.

A celebration of Uncle Doug’s life will be held Saturday August 24 2019 at The Salvation Army Church ( 683 Gibsons Way) at 1pm.
