Douglas Johnson Obituary

As a master wood crafter, home designer, teacher, Canadian history buff, avid reader, galley chef, and Captain of the Indigo Zen, Doug shared his passion for life with his family and his friends. Born in Castor, Alberta to Jeanne and Orval, many of his years were spent in BC; a dad, a husband and a friend. His impact on our lives will be remembered forever as we fly the flag in honour of his birthday each Canada Day. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Doug is survived by his brother Neil (Marines), son Michael (Pat), daughter Suzanne (Ron), grandchildren Megan and Doug, daughter Angela (Frank), granddaughter Chantelle, great-grandson Riley, his loving wife Marguerite and her family: Catherine (Bruce), MJ (Henry), Doug (Jessica), grandchildren Linden and Holly, Rochelle (Ian), grandchildren Denise (Jesse), Nicole and great-grandchildren Chloe and Aubrie.
At Doug's request, there will be no service. A family celebration will be held to honour in his life.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the BC Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.
Special thanks for the excellent care to Doug's palliative care nurse, home care nurses, Dr. Mentz and Dr. Robinson. A heartfelt thanks to our very kind and generous friends and neighbours who supported us.
