Duris Maxwell (aka Ted Lewis), born June 15, 1946 in East York, Ontario, passed away in his home in Sechelt, British Columbia, on November 25, 2020 at age 74. He was predeceased by his father Don and mother Jean. He is survived by his sister Donna, his son David and his granddaughter's Haley and Megan. Music was Duris' passion. He was one of Canada's foremost drummers. Duris played his first professional gig at 14 and continued playing and teaching well into his 60s. Duris was known for creating huge, rich sound from a very small drum kit - he was the beat that drove the rhythm for many of Canada's best musicians and bands. In addition to music, he received his law degree from UBC in 1993. He loved the West Coast and spent his final years near the ocean.
There will be no service, however if you would like to memorialize him, donate to a youth music program near you, on his behalf.
