Gary Weber Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Gary Blake Weber announce his passing on July 17th at Sechelt Hospice. Gary was born to Ernest and Rose Weber in Fairview Alberta on a small family farm.  He grew up alongside his three sisters and one brother. He left the farm to work on a bridge crew before attending school at NAIT.  He worked in television repair before joining BC Tel(Telus) in 1970. There is spent 36 years climbing poles, installing phones, and responding to emergencies in the night. He moved to Sechelt in 1981 and soon found the love of his life, Pauline (Hoene). Together they welcomed the highlights of his life, the birth of his two sons, David (1986), and Brian (1987). Gary was a kind, patient and dependable man. He was generous with his time, becoming involved with volunteer firefighting, Scouts Canada, Habitat for Humanity, The Knights of Columbus and Church Maintenance. Gary & Pauline traveled the world together. He enjoyed learning about other cultures and history visiting 6 of the 7 continents. Gary had a wonderful curiosity and was not afraid to tackle any task, from home renovations to cell phone repairs. If it could be fixed Gary would fix it. Gary had a wonderful sense of humour, making us laugh even in his final days.  Gary enjoyed boating, gardening, golfing, and daily walks. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Pauline, sons, David (Bailey) Winnipeg, Brian (Katelyn) Edmonton, sisters Louise Kok and Marjorie Voll, sister-in-law Loretta Hoene, nieces and nephews Stacey, Laura, Stephanie and Doug. He was predeceased by his parents Ernest Sr.& Rose Weber, and siblings Ernie (Donna), and Sylvia. Funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 26th.  Charitable donations can be made in his honour to Canadian Cancer Society to support lung cancer research, or any of the charities that Gary was personally involved with.
