We are sad to announce the passing of our mom, Gloria June Clarke.
Mom was born in 1926 and raised in Powell River BC, the first of seven
born to Jay and Ethel Maslin.
Gloria moved to Vancouver, met and married Jack Clarke then
relocated to Shalath for several years while Jack worked on the Dam at
Carpenter Lake. A real outdoor experience.
They later moved to Squamish where they raised three children; Peter,
Susan and David. These early years before the road to the city, they
took the MV Bonna Bell to Vancouver for appointments and shopping.
These were pioneer years when her father-in-law, Stan Clarke was the
first Mayor. Gloria enjoyed life here with good friends and family.
Then as empty nesters Jack and Gloria moved to Kamloops and spent
20 years in retirement gardening and cultivating another wonderful
group of friends. Gloria moved back to Squamish in 1994 when Jack
died to be closer to family and later moved to Sechelt with family where
she always said she felt she was back home on the Sunshine Coast.
Gloria will be missed by all those she corresponded with here ad abroad,
as well as the postal clerks, as she regularly came in wearing her green hat,
green coat and loaded with letters and parcels to post.
Gloria will be especially missed by all her family, her children, the grand and great grandchildren who love her tell the end and will remember her forever.
