On Sunday, December 27, 2020, Howard Leslie Gazes, 69, died quietly at home in Gibsons, BC, of kidney failure with his beloved wife Louise at his side.
Howie was born in 1951 in Brooklyn, New York, predeceased by his parents Meyer and Marian Gazes and his much loved and admired older brother Ronnie.
Howie is survived by his wife of 25 years, Louise, (they met online and in 1995, they married and settled in Gibsons together) daughter Emily and four grandchildren, Eric, Madelaine, Eliana and Dylan. In New York he is survived by his sister-in-law Iris, nephews Josh and Michael and their families.
Howie’s passion was music, listening and playing guitar, violin and occasionally piano. He also loved astronomy. A excellent teacher he could teach anyone almost anything if he was given a day to prepare. He was also a great cook. He voted for Obama, Clinton and Biden by absentee ballot. Howie loved our dogs; Wesley, who thought he was very small and Zoe, who thought she was very big.
Howie was loving, smart and funny, gentle and kind, patient and talented. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
