It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joanne Gwen Davidson (Wood) on February 25, 2024, at the age of 82. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and cherished memories that will be forever treasured by those who knew and loved her.
Joanne was born on July 14, 1941, to Nan and Jack Wood of West Vancouver. Her childhood was filled with summers spent at the cabin in Roberts Creek, and with “the gang” of her besties from school. Joanne loved working at Woodwards in Park Royal where she was a dedicated employee for 36 years, and made some lifelong friendships. In late 1965 she met Peter on a blind date. The two were married in 1966 and were together for 51 years until Peter’s passing in 2017. Together, they raised their 2 children, Jennifer (Kevin) and Jim, in Norgate, North Vancouver before settling in Gibsons in 1993, where she spent the rest of her life.
Joanne had a profound love for animals and people alike, often extending her kindness to ‘strays’ in need. She enjoyed spending time outdoors - gardening, on the sailboat with Peter, or relaxing by the ocean.
In addition to being a devoted wife, mother and friend, Joanne was a doting and loving grandmother to Andraya and Corbin. Joanne will be missed by her family, friends, and all who had the joy of knowing her.
A celebration of Joanne’s life will be held on Saturday, March 23 2024 at Eric Cardinall Hall in Gibsons from 1-3 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a local animal rescue of your choice, in Joanne’s memory.
