John Siska Obituary

John was born in Castlegar to Veronica (Hutton) and Gabriel Siska.  John grew up in the Okanagan and after high school, John attended SAIT, in Calgary, where he studied to become a Power Engineer.  Upon graduation, John moved to the Sunshine Coast for employment with Howe Sound Pulp and Paper.  John worked there, as a Power Engineer, for 30 years.

In the spring of 1998, John met his future wife Bobbi-Jean (Bresky), and on July 22, 2000, they were married, at the Salvation Army Camp Sunrise chapel.  In 2004, their son Matthew Siska was born.  In October 2025, John moved to the Silverstone Care Centre, in Sechelt, with Advanced Early Alzheimer’s Disease.  John passed away, at Silverstone, surrounded by love and care, from Bobbi-Jean, Matthew, his sister Julie, and nursing staff.

John was committed to his work, friends, and church family.  Over the years, John enjoyed swimming in the ocean, walking his dogs, gardening, studying his Bible, and attending church.  John was known for his faith, generosity, and love of learning, which he also nurtured in others.  John was so proud and so supportive of Matthew’s and Bobbi-Jean’s university studies.

John was predeceased by his father, Gabriel, his mother, Veronica, and his in-laws, Norman and Madeline Bresky.  John is survived by his wife Bobbi-Jean, son Matthew, brother and sister in-laws Gary Bresky, Denise (Dale) Cazakoff, and Jackie (Len) Holian, and their children and grandchildren, who reside throughout Western Canada, his sister Julie Beach, nieces Felicia (Cody) and Crystal, and great-nephews, Hunter and John, who all reside in Vernon, BC.  On the Sunshine Coast, cousins Lori (Tim) Weatherby, Melissa (Chris) Lennox, Lily and Lyla Lennox.

Family would like to thank the Silverstone Care Centre staff, the Sechelt Hospital ER staff, and CLA Pastor Jaz Ghag and wife Leslie, for their diligent care and devotion.  In honour of John, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of BC or the Christian Life Assembly (CLA) Church in Gibsons.

John will be laid to rest, with his parents, in Coldstream, BC, in the summer of 2026.

Until we joyfully reunite, we will miss you and fondly remember you.
