Judith Hopkinson Obituary

Judy Evelyn Hopkinson

April 14,1933 to Nov 7,2024

It is with sad hearts that the whole family  announces the passing of Judy Hopkinson.  She was with her children when she peacefully slipped away.

Born in Manchester, England Judy grew up in nearby Bramhall. She was educated at Howell School for Girls and later spent six months in France. After taking commercial training, Judy worked in medical offices until her marriage.

Judy was married at 22 to Derek Royle. They came to Canada in 1955 where they had  their three children.

Judy married her second husband, John B Hopkinson, in 1970.  They combined their two families and Judy gained five children! John and Judy had many wonderful adventures doing all the things they loved most. She and John were generous and enthusiastic hosts for many events, large and small. They were very happily married for 49 years. Sadly John died in 2018.

Judy loved music and singing, travel, gardening, and reading, and her numerous social interests. Her sense of humour was both very dry and very British. Judy loved the countless magical days spent at Nelson Island and the constant laughter at family events. The reunions were always epic!

Judy has always had many friends who have enjoyed visits for coffee, meals and parties, outings and trips, and just spending time with her. The common feeling was that Judy was a lady of class and style.

Judy will be sorely missed by her loving family: daughters Anne(Tom) and Wendy, son Michael(Wendy), and step sons Jeremy(Deb), Andy (Cec), Rob(Jenn), and step daughters Sarah(Mark), and Jennifer(Hugh) as well as her 17 dearly loved grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren!

Sincere thanks to the wonderful staff at Amica (North Van) for their care, consideration, and excellence. Judy appreciated every one of you.

Also a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful doctors who have looked after Judy so well over the years. A special thanks to Dr Ron Mundy in Sechelt.

In lieu of flowers, you might consider a donation to the charity of your choice. Please feel free to leave a comment where this notice is posted.

The family will hold a celebration of Judy’s life on a date to be determined later
