Kathrine Hardcastle Obituary

Kathrine Elizabeth Hardcastle (nee Fisher)

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Kathrine on August 9, 2022.
Born in August, 1969 in North Vancouver, the family moved to the Sunshine Coast when Kathrine was two years old. She is survived by her husband Brian Hardcastle and mother Melinda Fisher and is predeceased by her father Joe Fisher. Extended family was always an important part of Kath's life and her family enjoyed visitors annually at their home and of course traveling to see others.

Kathrine grew up in Selma Park and kept the Sunshine Coast as her life-long home base, although the family lived a few years in Saskatchewan with Kathrine graduating high school in Kindersley. Returning as an adult to the coast Kathrine lived in Selma Park, West Sechelt and finally in Porpoise Bay.
Married to Brian in Maui, Hawaii in 1998, the two enjoyed many travels including China, Cuba, Mexico, and Hawaii most frequently as well as exploring Canada and the USA. Often to locations where friends resided.

Kathrine worked for the Royal Bank in Sechelt at reception and having compassion for community members in need she later worked her full-time days at Sunshine Coast Association for Community Living (SCACL), then to Community Services, and her final place of work was with the Kettle Society of Vancouver. Kath loved her work in payroll and benefits which supported the team of front-line staff working directly with clients.

For over 30 years she also worked second jobs as a server at Gilligan's Pub, The Old Boot and finally the Lighthouse Pub, always making lifelong friends with both the staff and guests.
Hard work allowed for time to play, and Kathrine fulfilled her life-long love of horses by competing in Equestrian events showing American Quarter Horse in both English and Western and rising to the top of each level as she progressed through novice into amateur levels. Her greatest sport achievements occurred as owner and riding Leeroy (Winkin for Chocolate).
If not for a recent diagnosis of rare and aggressive cancer, Kathrine had early retirement plans and hopes to explore more of the world with Brian. She will be sadly missed as being bright, bubbly and kind.

The service will be Thursday, September 1st, 2022 at 1:30pm at St. John's United Church, Davis Bay, Sechelt.
A social gathering is planned on her birthday Monday, August 22 at noon in Lighthouse Pub, Sechelt on the Buccaneer Restaurant side.
A sunset toast to Kathrine will also be held on August 22nd and we are inviting all to join from their own location.
Our family will donate to the Sunshine Coast Healthcare Auxiliary Loan Cupboard and the Sunshine Coast Hospice Society supporting those challenged to afford health care equipment or services, should anyone want to donate in Kathrine's memory.

Kathrine's ashes will be interred in Morse, Saskatchewan at the family plot.
