Lorena MacCafferty
May 20, 1933 – March 1, 2026
Lorena passed away peacefully at Silverstone Care Centre at the age of 92.
Lorena was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. At the age of three and a half, she moved with her family to San Luis Obispo, California, where she was raised.
She attended Oregon State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Education degree and began her career as a teacher in California. Lorena later moved to British Columbia with her family. While raising her children, she worked at Kelowna General Hospital for over 20 years before eventually relocating to Vancouver, where she later taught ESL at Vancouver Community College.
Having spent many years living on and off the Sunshine Coast, Lorena finally settled in Sechelt full-time in 2017. She loved to travel, read, and write, and especially enjoyed taking long walks.
Lorena is survived by her two sons, one daughter, and four grandchildren.
The family extends a special thank you to the doctors, nurses, care aides, home care workers, and volunteers who were instrumental in providing Lorena with such compassionate care and quality of life. Your care, patience, and respect were deeply appreciated.
At Lorena’s request, there will be no service.
