Louis (Sonny) Benner Obituary

Lifelong resident of Sechelt, BC, peacefully passed away Monday, February 8th, 2021 at the age of 89 years old from a short, courageous battle with cancer.
Sonny is survived by his sons, Bob, Dale (Sally), Garry (Tracey) and Randy (Holly); his siblings, Ervin, Arnita, and Darlene; and grandchildren, Adrienne, Kelly (Mike), Heidi, Byron (Deana), Dagan (Liona), Graydon (Carlyn), Raylene, Carlee, Ashley, Savanah, Callum and great-grandchildren Tristan and River. Sonny has now joined his late wife, Audrey Benner who passed away March 30, 2003.

Sonny was born on March 30, 1931 to Louis and Pauline Benner in Saskatchewan. Growing up he lived on a farm with his parents and then moved to Sechelt. Sonny was an avid logger in his younger days and retired in 1996. While raising his boys, Sonny enjoyed camping many different places around BC. In his later years, Sonny was often found helping out with many projects that friends and family needed help with around the house, including painting. Sonny was a devoted father and grandfather; if one of his sons or grandchildren had any sports game you would always find him at the park, field or arena cheering them on. Sonny enjoyed traveling to Arizona with his friends and enjoyed getting together with his friends on Saturday mornings.

Sonny will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all that knew him. A special thank you to everyone at home support. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic there will be no funeral service at this time. Lifelong resident of Sechelt, BC, peacefully passed away Monday, February 8th, 2021 at the age of 89 years old from a short, courageous battle with cancer.
