Maureen Lynn (Wear) Wilkinson

August 19, 1953 to May 26, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maureen. She passed peacefully in her own home on her own terms surrounded by her family and close friends. She fought a courageous battle with Ovarian cancer for 5 years, many never realized how ill she was. 

She was predeceased by her parents, Faye and Audrey Wear and her sister Mary Helton.

Maureen is survived by her much-loved son and daughter, Caleb and Amber (Mike) and the joys of her life, her grandchildren, Avery, Abel, Parker and Adalyn.

She is also survived by her siblings, Kathleen (Gordon), Eileen (Barney), Neil (Debbie), Glenn (Lee) and many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.

From the beginning Mo was high energy, adventurous and a risk taker. She did nothing half throttle instead always choosing to go full throttle.  Needless to say, because of this thrill-seeking attitude she had a few setbacks and injuries along the way, but she always seemed to rise above and move onto the next adventure.

She was a top student at Sir Charles Tupper secondary school in Vancouver.  Not just an academic she also did her parents proud by excelling in athletics, particularly fastpitch. 

After high school Mo entered nursing school at The Vancouver General Hospital, living in residence and learning her craft as a kind, caring nurse. She loved her work and it took her to many places including: Manitoba, Yukon, and various locations throughout B.C.  These stops provided opportunities to create life-long friendships and memories.  Her travels and experiences allowed her to become a well-respected nurse and finish her career as the Manager of the Tri-Cities Home Health Services.

After retirement, Mo had more time to pursue some of her passions like golfing, curling, and spending time with her family and friends.  Her most passionate pursuit though was being a great mom, gramma (G-Mo), sister, and friend. There was nothing that she would not do for family and for her " Littles", Avery, Abel, Parker and Adalyn.  She loved them "to the moon and back."

A celebration of life will be held June 10th at 2pm, at Christ the King Church, 287 Gower Point Road, in Gibsons, B.C.  In lieu of flowers, it would be greatly appreciated that donations be made to the B.C. Cancer Agency.
