Michael Bezaire Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Bezaire.
Mike was born in Windsor, Ontario to parents Shirley M. Whitney and Clarence J. Bezaire. He leaves behind his wife Kathleen (Haugh), son Albert (Dawn), daughter Joelle, and son Paul (Christie), Grandchildren Ethan, Brandon, Gavin and Emma.  Siblings, sister Linda, brothers Skip (Melanie), Barry (Sharon)and Terry(deceased 2024)
Mike attended Ivor Chandler Public School, high school at W. D. Lowe and further studies at St. Clair College. He apprenticed and worked as a machinist and a mechanic for many years of his life.

From an early age he spent many hours fixing up cars including his own race car.  He was passionate about Formula Ford racing. As a race car mechanic, he travelled to tracks in Canada, across the US and Venezuela.

In 1969 he married Kathleen. They had three children, Albert, Joelle and Paul. He loved his children and supported them in their sporting endeavours including swimming, baseball, and hockey. He took pride in coaching hockey in Windsor, and later in Sechelt in the early 80’s.
When the family moved to Gibsons in 1987, he fell in love with the beautiful surroundings of the Sunshine Coast. He loved to go ocean fishing in his boat and fly fishing at Rainy River. He enjoyed the techniques of tying his own flies.

His favourite activity was going to his grandchildren’s hockey games to cheer them on. It was his passion in life. Whether by car, scooter, or wheelchair he made sure he was at their games blowing his air horn when the home team scored. He was very proud of his grandchildren.

I would say that Mike enjoyed his life. He was always very positive, forthright and confident in his decisions. He had a positive outlook on life and all it brought to him. He was able to accept disabilities and disappointments amidst fluctuating health issues. His resilience allowed him to cope and make life easier. Whether at work or in his home life, he was a great problem solver and he was proud of that. His sense of humour, joking, teasing and laughing kept him looking on the bright side of life.

We would love you to share your stories and memories of Mike.
