Norman Lupovich Obituary

Peacefully, at the age of eighty-nine, on Saturday, March 13, 2021, in Gibsons, British Columbia, where he and his beloved wife, Ruth, spent their retirement years. Devoted father and father-in-law of Steven Lupovich and Julie Morneau, Jane and François Cadieux. He was so much more than a grandfather to Daniel, Allyson, Charlotte, Matthew, Aidan, Tyrone, Dylan, Damon, Rory, Tessa, and Ava. Dearly loved brother of Carole and the late Jack. Norman will be missed by Eleanor Roth - mother of Steven and Jane, by Lise Gallant - mother of Allyson and Matthew, by Ruth's children, Damon Trevor and Shaun, by Susan and Frank Tonne, and by his extended family in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver and in the US.

Norman, son of Florence and Moe Lupovich, was born and grew up in Montreal. He attended Westmount High School where he was captain of the football team. Norman excelled in hockey and played for the University of Denver on a hockey scholarship. He also played for McGill University, where he finished his studies in Commerce. Norman ran his uniform business for over forty years in the old hockey Forum on Mount Royal Ave. He loved sports, especially hockey, golf, cycling and swimming, but he was also an avid art collector, and loved jazz and big band music. Norman was everyone's best friend because he always saw the best in people. He was warm and young-at-heart, with a great sense of humor. He made childhood magical for his children and grandchildren and believed in the power of "play". He was patient and fair and had many life-long friends. Norman was accepting of all people, a liberal and forward thinker, which made him an ahead-of-his-time father and role model. He will be deeply missed!

We wish to convey a special gratitude to the staff of Christenson Village in Gibsons for their care, especially the video calls in the final months, connecting Norman to his family in Canada, US and Europe.

A private graveside funeral will be held in Montreal. Arrangements entrusted to Paperman & Sons.
