Margaret (Peggy) Mary Jardine passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 24th at the age of 84.
Born November 19th 1940 in Toronto Ontario to John and Vera Hoyle, Peggy wore many hats over the years with grace and poise. She was raised as an only child until Kathy and Linda, were adopted into the family in early 1961.
1961 also saw the love story we all know as Peggy and Doug, begin at the same church they met in. Peggy met Doug while she was in the Choir of Our Lady of Victory Church and Doug was the organist. Peggy and Doug’s life together spanned 60 years, before Doug’s passing in 2022. They enjoyed travelling around the world together through Doug’s work as well as loving island time on Savory and RV’ing through North America during their retirement years.
In addition to raising the boys, Charles (Chuck), John, and Karl, she was also very active in the Catholic Women’s League. A member of 35 years, she held CWL President and Secretary positions. Her presence will be missed.
Community service and family was not everything, Peggy also pursued the academic path and on February 29, 1980 Peggy Jardine graduated from Nursing school.
Marriage and family moved Peggy around, from Chicoutimi QC, which saw the birth of their first two sons Chuck and John, to Calgary Alberta, where they welcomed their third son, Karl. After spending some time in North Vancouver, Peggy and Doug finally settled in Sechelt, BC where they lived to the end.
Peggy’s home was in BC Canada, but she travelled all over the world through her pen pal friendships, from India to Australia, the USA and Canada, she loved to hear about the happenings and culture from around the world.
The Jardine family expanded over the years, to include the girls, with Diana, Cyndi and Cate, 6 grandchildren: Angela, Cody, Julie, Savannah, Mariah, and Jack, and 7 great-grandchildren: Noah, Nova, Kolson, Katlin, Greyson, Serenity, and Theo
Peggy Jardine (19 Nov 40 - 24 Sep 2025) loved her family, was active within her community and church and read voraciously. It was an honour to know and love her.
