Peter R Musil, passed away on the morning of Sunday April 23rd, at Totem Care Home in Sechelt, BC.
Born in Berlin, Peter left Germany as a very young man and sailed to Canada by ship, the ship on which he met his future wife, Helga.
Peter and Helga settled in Vancouver’s West End, where they raised their children, Andreas and Dana Liza. Peter worked as a metallurgist at UBC. He was intelligent, hard working and loved by his students.
Upon retiring, Peter bought a property in Halfmoon Bay, where he lived until he was hospitalized in 2021. He loved that piece of land. On any given day one could find him high up on one of his many ladders, dangling from some tree in a homemade harness, donning knee pads and goggles and working the wood splitter or battling rocks from the earth.
Never one to give up, Peter fought to stay alive, but in the end succumbed to brain-bleed related dementia and complications. We thank all the staff at Totem Lodge for their most gracious care of our father and husband.
Peter is survived by his wife and children.
We hope that he may finally be at peace.
