Robert (Bob) Code Jones

It is with sad hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Dr. Robert (Bob) Jones on April 18, 2021 in Sechelt B.C.

Bob, the son of Muriel and Arthur Reginald Jones was born on March 20, 1928 in Saint John, New Brunswick. He graduated from UNB in 1949 and McGill University in 1953 with a MDCM (Doctor of Medicine). He practiced in Rossland for 2 years, loved the hunting and fishing and was on the ski patrol at Red Mountain. Bob then moved to Vancouver to work at St. Paul’s Hospital where he met and married Valentina Bush. They were married in First Baptist Church, Vancouver in 1961 by Bob’s uncle Rev. Gordon Jones.

After completing his surgical specialty in Montreal, Bob and Tina moved back to Vancouver. He joined the Norburn Medical Clinic in North Burnaby where he practiced for 25 years. They raised three children together. Bob and Tina instilled their love of the outdoors to their children, with skiing vacations and canoeing trips throughout B.C. He was sadly widowed in 1982.

In 1986, Bob married Beth Crompton and in 1992 he semi-retired to Halfmoon Bay where he continued to assist in surgeries before fully retiring in 1996. Bob and his wife Beth, enjoyed travelling, gardening, being involved in the local church and spending time with their grandchildren.

Bob leaves his wife Beth, daughter Melanie and son-in-law Frank Salter, daughter Jennifer Jones and son David and daughter-in-law Andrea, four step-children Tom, Richard, Rob, and Jane Crompton, four grandchildren Elliot, Andrew, Holden and Avery and step-grandchildren Cory, RJ and Joe, nieces Debbie McInnes, Marlene Jones, Dr. Patricia Leather, and nephew Mark Leather. He was predeceased by his first wife Tina in 1982, sister Carol Leather and brothers Arthur and Walter Jones.
