Roberta Lynn Bain, known by all as Robin, was a gentle,
sweet and caring woman. Born in Sechelt, she lived in
many places, including Squamish, Britannia Beach,
Kamloops, and Comox, before returning to her roots and
settling on the Sunshine Coast. There she found her last
Love, Ernie, and, in their last few years, they lived in a
lovely apartment with an ocean view and surrounded by
plants that Ernie bought her. He adored her and they
spent their last years together visiting their grandchildren,
watching old sitcoms and napping while holding hands.
Robin was very shortly predeceased by Ernie on February
13th. A few days later became severely ill and taken to
hospital, where she told her daughter, Stacy, that She and
Ernie planned on going together.
“I just want to be with him.”
So, in a beautiful and sovereign way, she made a
decision. One week and twenty minutes after Ernie, on
February 20th, she followed him.
Robin was a very talented woman. As a child, she was a
classical guitar prodigy. At 11 years old she was the first
in BC to take a guitar examination from Trinity College,
London, England, passing with merit. In her earlier years
she created a plethora of stunning art with her elegant
hands: pencil and charcoal portrait sketches of those she
loved, gorgeous calligraphy writing, beautiful poetry, and
intricate crochet and macrame pieces. In the end, she
would likely say that her greatest creations were her
children, Andrea, Stacy and Peter, who she was very
proud of and loved very much. As well as heart-children:
Clinton, Christina and Justin. In turn, she was blessed
with several grandchildren who she loved just as much, if
not more: Anabella, Lucas, Marley, Jade and, through
Ernie, Brooklyn, Alexis and Riley.
A deeply feeling and sensitive person, Robin loved many
and was loved by many. First and foremost, her siblings:
Mickey, Peter and Roxy, her younger sister who she is
now reunited with. She is also in the Spirit World with her
parents, Bernice and Bob, as well as many others. And
still with us in remembrance are sister-cousins and
cousins, as well as nieces and nephews, most of whom
called her “Auntie Bunny” or “Bunny,” a nickname that
originated with her first niece, Nadine. As a young child,
Nadine saw robin birds bustling about and decided that
Nana and Papa got it wrong…she’s not a Robin, she’s a
Bunny, soft and gentle.
Robin completed her life on her own terms and left
peacefully, holding the hands of her daughter, Stacy, and
her sister, Mickey.
The family would like to extend Grace and Gratitude to
the doctors and nursing staff at Sechelt Hospital, Velma
Yelton for the beautiful beaded roses, Sito and Landon for
drumming her out, Amanda Dixon and Michelle Nooski for

taking good care.
We will gather for a ceremony and blessing at the Nation
Hall in Sechelt on April 26thf at 11am, followed by a
burning at the longhouse and a luncheon.
