Roderick "Dennis" McDermid Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Roderick Dennis McDermid.  ‘Dennis’ was an adventurous soul whose tales of an extraordinary life will live on with everyone that he knew and loved. ‘Dennis’ passed away on May 18, 2021 at the age of 77 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest. 

Dennis is survived by his daughters Sandra Shannon (Jeff Shannon) and Carey Bailey (Dan Bailey) along with his Grandchildren; Ryan (Kayley), Samantha, Kelsey, Abby; his great grandchildren, Theo and Harper.  His beautiful step children:  Patricia Jaramillo; Josue Jaramillo, Katherine Jaramillo, Grandchildren: Requel Bonilla, Christian Jaramillo, Mathias Jaramillo, Melanie Torres, Melody Jaramillo, Fiona Jones, Benji Jones, Logan Jaramillo. Great grandchildren: Sammy Bonilla.  His brothers Don McDermid (Patricia McDermid) and Dan McDermid. 

Dennis was born in Duncan, British Columbia where his love of the sea began.  As a young man he served in the armed forces through the Royal Canadian Navy where he travelled the world and fostered an appreciation for travel that continued throughout his life.  He spent many years in Regina, SK; Costa Rica:  Spain; Panama- a few of his favourite places. Dennis worked in construction, various business ventures and finance throughout his life.  His charm, humour and jovial personality was contagious to everyone he met.  He had a gift for storey telling and would often have entire room full of people laughing with his ability to find humor in the most mundane life circumstances.

Rest in Peace Dennis, you will be missed.
