Rodrigue Lizee Obituary

Rodrigue Lizee, 90, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2025 in Sechelt, British Columbia

Rodrigue was born on October 16, 1934, in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan.  He pursued his education at Teachers college in Saskatchewan, earning his degree before embarking on a lifelong career as an educator.  For over 30 years, he was a beloved teacher on the Sunshine Coast, where he inspired generations of students with his dedication and passion for learning.

Beyond the classroom, Rodrigue had a deep love for aviation.  As an accomplished pilot with Tyee Air, he spent his afternoons and summers flying float planes.  His work took him to remote areas where he made countless landings and met many wonderful people along the way.

Music was another great passion in Rodrigue’s life.  A talented guitarist, he played in the band The Sunshine Coast Ramblers for many years.  The group performed throughout the Sunshine Coast and at venues across the Lower Mainland, bringing joy to many with their music.  His love for music extended to his faith as well, he was deeply involved with Holy Family Parish and played in the choir for many years.

Rodrigue shared 67 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Germaine.  Together they built a beautiful family that includes their four sons: Rene (Doreen) Gedeon (Rachel), Romeo (Margo), and George (Jacquie).  He was also blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry forward his legacy of kindness and dedication.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the kind staff at Silverstone for their care and support during Rodrigue’s final days.

Rodrigue’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, through the lessons he taught, the music he played, and the skies he soared.

A Service will be held at Holy Family Parish, 5700 Nickerson Road, Sechelt BC on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at 2:00 pm.   A reception will follow in the hall and we welcome you to come share your memories and stories.
