Rosemary Lawson Obituary

Our beloved mom Rosemary Ethel (Churchill) Lawson, 90, of Gibsons BC, passed away January 3rd, at St. Mary's hospital in Sechelt BC.

Born August 24th, to Ethel and Albert (Speed )Churchill in North Vancouver BC, she was the oldest of their 4 children.

Rosemary married John Lawson on September 10th 1949, and started their life together working in their logging camp. Their first 2 children, Darlene and Michael, were raised in camp before moving to Dollarton and welcoming Susan and Richard to the family.

She was a hard working homemaker raising their family in her beloved home by the sea. The house is a familiar landmark for the many who walk by, and Mom welcomed friends old and new, who would drop in for tea and a visit.

She loved to travel and enjoyed many adventures, as well as  boating, fishing and getting to know those she met along the way.

Rosemary's flowers were an ongoing labor of love, creating the naturalized beauty of her home.

Social life was important throughout Rosemary's life and she valued all her friends. Holding many decades long friendships, she stayed in touch with an old fashioned handwritten letter. She is sadly missed by family and the many friends and acquaintances made over her long life.

She loved baking for family and friends, often handing out one of her famous lemon loaves along with her latest and sometimes colorful, joke. Her great sense of humor is fondly remembered by those who knew her.

Rosemary is survived by her 4 children Darlene , Michael, Susan and Richard,
9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, brother Harold Churchill of Chilliwack, sisters Elaine Durst of Kelowna and Norma Jansen of Holland.

There will be no services, however in memory of Rosemary, lifting a glass of her favorite Irish whiskey and a toast of "Sláinte" was her wish.
