Shirley Mae Karaloff (nee Hubbard)
September 8, 1943 – July 7, 2023
We are sad to announce the passing of Shirley Mae Karaloff. Shirley passed away peacefully on July 7 2023, at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver with her family by her side.
The eldest of three children, Shirley was born and raised on the Hubbard family farm in the small community of Blaine Lake, Saskatchewan. In high school she met Ken Karaloff, who in 1965 would become her husband and lifelong companion. Shortly thereafter, Ken & Shirley bought their first home together in Thunder Bay, Ontario. It was here that they would start their family with the birth of their sons, Kevin and Shaun.
In 1991 Shirley and Ken fulfilled a lifelong dream to settle on the west coast, moving to Gibsons, BC. The west coast climate combined with Shirley’s passion and love for plants and flowers, brought her garden to life. She took great pride in her flowers as well as harvesting and sharing that which came from her vegetable garden.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents James and Helen. She is survived by her husband Ken, her two sons Kevin (Sonja) and Shaun, her grandson Bailey, and her sister Elaine (Niel), and brother Morris (Doreen). Shirley also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews, and caring friends.
Family and friends are welcome to join us in a Celebration of Shirley's Life which will be held at the Chaster House in Gibsons BC on Tuesday, August 1st at 2pm
