Soren Bech passed away unexpectedly on September 12th, 2021, at the age of 73. Soren is survived by his wife, Joan, his sons and their spouses, Mikel and Natalia and her son, Matteo, Dana and Nikki and their son, Adler, and his brother and his spouse, Poul and Ninglan.
Soren was a devoted father, talented writer, musician, carpenter and architect. He enjoyed camping, traveling and exploring the continent with his family. At home, he loved designing and building new interior and exterior features for his property in Robert’s Creek and the cabin that he built with his family in Narrows Inlet.
Despite occasionally remarking that he still did not know what he wanted to be when he grew up, Soren found his calling as a fervent and dedicated champion of the BC labour movement. He worked as a communications officer for the BC Government and Services Employees Union for more than 17 years, and continued to work with the union through the BC Federation of Retired Union Members after he retired. Soren made an impact on many lives: on union members and the public through his work fighting for workers’ rights, and on the lives of his peers, colleagues, friends and family.
A gifted communicator, a respected mentor and a passionate activist, Soren inspired and uplifted everyone around him. He actively and tirelessly worked to make the world a better place. And the world was better with him in it.
Soren is and will forever be deeply missed.
