With great sadness, we announce the passing of Victor Walker in Sechelt on the 27th Of April 2021. He is survived by his loving wife and life partner Cecilia, his two children Julia and Rodney, 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren from his first marriage.
Born in Whitby, England, he was a lifelong mariner who first went to sea in 1942.
His life was wonderfully rich, full of adventure and love. He was a great teller of salty yarns from his days on the seven seas, be it sailing on the North Atlantic convoys in the second world war or being attacked by pirates on the China Coast. He was a BC Ferry captain when he retired thirty years ago.
Victor was incredibly creative. Apart from his marine skills, he was a house builder, square dancer, toastmaster, and picture framer, to name just a few of his many talents. He could fix anything and design anything to fix it with. If it was possible, he could figure it out.
Throughout his 95 years, he was known by friends as kind and generous with his time and talents. He is sorely missed by all those who loved him.
